pGouverneur - Gerda McKinney, age 90, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown./ppThere are no calling hours or funeral services and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur./ppGerda was born in Germany on January 8, 1926, the daughter of Johannes and Johanna Beskers Giese./ppShe worked as a dental assistant, as a coordinator for the Office of the Aging until age 72, and was a homemaker, raising her family./ppGerda was a member of the German-American Club, the Birthday Club, Gouverneur Senior Citizens, and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was a seamstress./ppGerda is survived by her sons Michael McKinney and Arthur McKinney, both of Gouverneur, 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, 4 brothers and a sister./ppMemorial donations in Gerda’s memory may be made to the Gouverneur Vol. Fire Department or Gouverneur Vol. Rescue Squad./p
