pFuneral services for Kimberly A. Galpin, age 55 of Rensselaer Falls will be held on Saturday (June 18, 2016 at 4:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Missionary Ron Stiles officiating. Burial will follow at the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery./ppCalling hours will be held also on Saturday from 12:00noon until the time of the funeral. Kim passed away early Saturday (June 11, 2016) after a courageous battle with cancer with her mother by her side./ppSurviving is her mother & step-father Janet (Clyde) Palmer of Rensselaer Falls; a son Robert Galpin; a daughter Melissa (Caleb) Van Brunt both of Ft. Worth, TX; grandson Grayson Van Brunt; step-grandson Cayden Van Brunt of TX; an uncle Douglas (Jennie) Richer of Manlius NY; aunts Darlene Richer of Fayetteville, NY & Sally Richer of Manlius NY; a sister-in-law Nancy Galpin of TX; a niece Alisa Galpin of TX along with several cousins. /ppShe was predeceased by her father Donald Galpin; two brothers Michael in 1982 & Marc Galpin in 2004 and a nephew Tyler Galpin in 2015 along with several aunts and uncles./ppKim was born on October 12, 1960 in Plattsburgh NY, a daughter of Donald & Janet (Richer). She graduated from Canton High School, and began her career working as a cashier at P & C Foods and later at the Comfort Suites as a desk clerk in Canton. Kim’s lifelong passion was caring for others, and later became employed at the United Helpers Nursing Home where she worked as a CNA and then as an activity aide, until her health declined./ppShe joined the Rensselaer Falls Fire Departments in 1983 as the first women, and has been an active member of the Fire Dept for 22 years and the Rescue Dept for 20 years. Kim has also been an active member of the auxiliary for several years. She enjoyed her involvement with both the Fire and Rescue Departments, camping and spending time with her family. /ppMemorial donation can be made to the Rensselaer Falls Fire or Rescue Departments, Rensselaer Falls Cemetery or the Riverledge Activities Department.
