pLOUISVILLE: Ray K. Hurlbut, 83, a long time Louisville resident passed away Wednesday June 15, 2016 with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 25, 1932 the son of the late Kenneth O. and Fannie (Wagstaff) Hurlbut. He worked the family farm and then had a farm of his own in Flackville, NY. He was sale manager and cattle fitter for H.L. Neverett and Sons in Chazy, NY for a number of years. /ppRay married Eleanor Morse on August 24, 1963 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Plainfield, VT with Rev. Ronald Sabin officiating. /ppIn 1970 Ray started Hurlbut Tent Rental, what began with one tent, used primarily for auctions, has grown throughout the years and is still continued in the family, owned and operated by Michael and Julie Hurlbut. He has been a lifelong member of the Louisville Community Church where he served as trustee, deacon, and superintendent of church property. He was a 50 year member of Madrid Grange, a member of NY Holstein Association, a charter member of the Louisville Lions Club, and also was involved in Louisville Minor Hockey, Massena Minor Hockey, honorary member of Louisville Fire Department and a member of the SLU Booster Club. He also was a member of Louisville Town Board of Appeals. Along with his loving wife Eleanor, he is survived by his sons, Michael and wife Julie, of Louisville, Kenneth Hurlbut and Shannon Cook, of Louisville, five grandchildren, Jacob and Emily, of Louisville, Ellen, Natalie, and Rachel of Massena, a sister Karen and Ronald Aldous of Louisville, a brother in-law Joe Compo of Louisville, sister in-law Carole and Donald Fontana of Essex Junction, VT along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Beverly Compo. Friends and family may be received on Friday June 17, 2016 from 6-9 P.M. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Funeral services will be held on June 18, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at Louisville Community Church, with Rev. Richard Lenz and Rev.
