Edward K. Hludzenski

pEdward K. Hludzenski, 94, of Samaritan Keep Home, passed away February 6, 2016, at Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm./ppEdward was born October 2, 1921, in Watertown, a son of Joseph and Wanda Karwoski Hludzenski. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1940. Edward served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945 with the 864 Aviation Engineers in the Pacific Theater. /ppOn January 22, 1949 he married Merle L. Hamilton at St. Cecilia’s Church in Adams, NY. /ppBetween 1940 and 1948, he worked for the New York Air Brake, when not serving in the United States Army. Edward was a United States Postal clerk for thirty years, retiring in 1979. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a member of the VFW Post #1400, Watertown American Legion, the DAV, Northside Improvement League, and the Watertown Elks Lodge #496./ppEdward’s family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff of the Samaritan Keep Home and Hospice of Jefferson County for the excellent care they gave to him during his stay./ppSurviving besides his wife, are a son and his wife; James J, and Mary E., Watertown, three daughters and their husbands; Patricia A. and Robert Zingaro, Solvay, NY, Beverly K. and James Sylver, Watertown, Janis L. Pasciak, Utica, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by a brother, Chester W. Hludzenski, a sister, Josephine Witkowski and a son-in-law, Dale A. Pasciak./ppCalling hours will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 4-7 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be at 10:15 am on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the funeral home with an 11am funeral mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Jonas Tandayu officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601 or to Meals on Wheels, 218 Stone Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
