Arthur R. Pacific

pArthur R. Pacific, 84, recently of Malone, N.Y., longtime resident of Scio Street, died early Saturday morning from complications of pneumonia at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y. After suffering a stroke in November 2015, he become a resident at the Alice Center in Malone./ppA prayer service will be held on Wednesday August 17, 2016 at 9:15am at the Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Jonas Tandayu, pastor officiating. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Tuesday August 16th at the funeral home Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his name to The American Stroke Foundation or The American Heart Association./ppSurviving him are his son, Alexander D. Pacific and partner Harry D. Marinelli of Malone, N.Y.; grandchildren Alexander J. Pacific of Buffalo, N.Y. and Elinor R. Pacific of Potsdam, N.Y.; stepchildren Ronald and Connie LaMora of Rochester, N.Y. as well as Linda and Bruce Barnes of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ann Pacific of Watertown, N.Y. and her children Karen Fiske, Valentina Reid, and Rick Pacific all of Watertown, N.Y., as well as Bob Pacific of South Carolina. Another sister-in-law, Lil Pacific lives in Arizona with her children./ppBesides his wife, he is predeceased by a son John R. Pacific, his parents, his 5 sisters, Viola Franck, Giselda Hinds, Tilda Pacific, Tilda Lephart, Donna Pacific, and his 3 brothers, Elmo, Arnoldo and Valentino Pacific./ppMr. Pacific was born in Watertown on December 26, 1931, the son of Allesandro D. and Evelina P. Martini Pacifici. He was educated at St. Patrick’s Parochial School and Immaculate Heart Academy, where he was an accomplished basketball and football player. Authur was a laborer doing roadwork construction for the Local Laborers Union 322 until his retirement at age 55. He married Elinor A. LaChausse on October 12, 1963 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Paul Labrosse officiating. Mrs. Pacific died on Janurary 16, 1987. /ppHe was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War from July 9, 1952 until being honorably discharged on March 23, 1954, receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church as well as St. Patrick’s Church. He was an active member of the V.F.W. Post -1400, the American Legion Post-61, and the Watertown Elks Lodge-496. He was an accomplished fisherman and ice fisherman, hunter and gardener as well as a life long fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants./ppOnline condolences may be made at http://www.cummingsfuneral.com.//p
