Norman F. Drummond

pNorman F. Drummond passed away Wed. August 17, 2016 at the Heartland Nursing Home in Zephyrhills, FL surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Mr. Drummond, age 93, of Zephyrhills and formerly of DePeyster NY will be held Wed. August 24, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Heuvelton with Rev. Fr. Kevin O’Brien officiating. /ppCalling hours will be held Tuesday August 23, 2016 from 6 - 8 PM at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home in Ogdensburg NY. He will be laid to rest at Foxwood Memorial Park in Ogdensburg. /ppNorman married Margaret M Green on May 25, 1946 at St. Mary’s Church in Massena NY. She passed away September 2, 2013./ppSurviving are three sons: Gordon & Cheryl of Inverness FL, Robert & Ann of Frankfort NY and Paul and Tammy of Ogdensburg; three daughters: Mary D and Allen Mathis of Corning NY, Diane D and Larry Casey of Potsdam NY and Norma and Ed Henderson of Mechanicsville VA; grandchildren Brian, Cori, Lennie, Nathan and Lindsay Drummond, Rachael Casey, Janice and Alison Ramsey, Doug Henderson and Stacey Wilson, along with several great-grandchildren, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Norman has two brothers and a sister who are deceased: Elmer and Douglas Drummond, Gouverneur NY and Phyllis Eagan./ppNorman was born on September 26, 1922 in Gouverneur NY, son of the late Nelson and Althea Fishbeck Drummond, Rossie NY. He graduated from Gouverneur High School and the Agricultural and Technical Institute (ATI), Canton NY in 1942. Norman and Margaret owned and operated the Drum-Ayr Farm in DePeyster from 1947 - 94. He won the American and Empire State Farmer Degrees in FFA, the NYS Ayrshire Club Distinguished Service Award, many NYS Ayrshire Production Awards and DHIA production awards. Norman was a 4-H leader for many years, member of the SLC, NYS and National Grange, Assessor for the town of DePeyster, member and president of the Heuvelton CS Board of Education and member of the SLC Soil and Water Conservation District Board. For many years he was a member of the SLC and NYS Farm Bureau as well as president of the St. Lawrence Valley and NYS Ayrshire Club. /ppNorman worked also at Diamond International for 19 years until 1967. He was active in sports, especially basketball, baseball, dartball, track and cross country. At SUNY Canton his name is on a track trophy. He enjoyed working in the fields and barn and attending activities and sports’ events of his children and grandchildren. In Zephyrhills FL he enjoyed shuffleboard, dartball and visiting and helping friends and neighbors.
