pRobert T. Jemison, age 96 of Lisbon passed away on Monday (Sept 5, 2016) at his home surrounded by his loving family. Calling hours will be held on Saturday (Sept 10th) from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life service is planned for a later date. /ppSurviving is his wife of 68 years Helen Jemison; four sons Steven (Gayle) Jemison of Lisbon, David (Nancy) Jemison of Sarasota FL, Thomas (Sandra) Jemison of Nixa MO and Kenneth (Kathy) Rome of Liverpool; two daughters Martha (Stephen) Cole of Lisbon and Patricia Dean of Syracuse; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins. His only sister Ruth Wheater predeceased him by one day./ppBob was born on September 20, 1919 in Ogdensburg NY, son of the late Leon & Bernice (Newton) Jemison. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and served in the US Army from 1942 – 1946. During this time he witnessed the testing of the first atomic bomb, and helped track the first German V-2 rocket at White Sands Testing Grounds in New Mexico. He later married Helen M. Robson on June 27, 1948. During his career he was employed at Alcoa in Massena for 30 years, Smith Brothers in Lisbon as an electrician and later for the Town of Lisbon as a code officer until 2000 when he retired. /ppBob was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lisbon and enjoyed golfing, boating on the St. Lawrence River where he also taught area kids to water ski for many years. He and Helen also shared their love with those less fortunate by taking in many foster children, and foreign exchange students over the years./ppMemorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the First Congregational Church in Lisbon.
