pRichmond Brooks Rogers, 91, of Rossie, passed away in Buffalo VA Medical Center on September 17, 2016. He was born February 25, 1925 in Buffalo, only child of John Jay Rogers and Edith Jayne (nee Brooks) Rogers. He attended Lancaster High School and was drafted in his senior year. Service was with 349th Infantry Regiment assigned to 88th Infantry Division and with Army Air Force as a Technician during World War II. He was a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart recipient. His military commitments were honorably completed (1943-45). He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1946. He attended Alfred University. He married Dorothy Mae Becker on June 26, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew. He was an outdoorsman, hunter, trapper and fisherman. He enjoyed hockey, snowmobiling, swimming, water-skiing and woodworking. His career included NYS Electric & Gas Co., Westinghouse Electric Corp., American Car & Foundry, Scott Aviation, Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory and Transonic Wind Tunnel, and owning and operating Rogers Village Hardware Store in Lancaster. He and Dorothy were members of Faith United Methodist Church. They retired to their summer home in Rossie in 1983. They became members of Hammond Presbyterian Church. They were Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fans. Dorothy predeceased him on March 31, 2015. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Lynn (David) DeCondo of Rossie, Brenda (James Flanigan) of Holland and Nancy (Patrick) Rinow of Lancaster; granddaughters, Chelsea, Heather and Emily Rinow and Nina DeCondo; step-grandchildren, James, Jill, Kelly, Jamie, Megan and Holly; and a cousin, Keith J. Armstrong, of Morristown. A funeral service with military honors was held on September 20 at Faith United Methodist Church in Lancaster with Rev. James E. Brown officiant. Burial will be in Lancaster Rural Cemetery. /p
