pRichard J. Barry, 82, of Baldwinsville (formerly of Watertown, NY), beloved husband of Jean Barry, died October 8, 2016. /ppBorn on August 18, 1934, in Lewiston, ME, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Honora (Burns) Barry. /ppRich grew up in Hartford, CT, attended UConn, Suffolk University in Boston MA, and earned his Master’s Degree at Boston University. After serving two years in Korea with the USArmy 1st Cavalry, Rich began a teaching career, retiring from the Watertown School District after 30 years. He was a leader in local youth baseball, scouts and 4-H Camp Wabasso. His interests included golf, tennis, bird watching, gardening, and family history research. Rich and Jean enjoyed many years at their winter home at Burnt Store Colony, Punta Gorda, FL. As caregiver, Rich lovingly cared for his wife who has been ill for 20 years. /ppRich is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean Barry; two sons, Richard (Cheryl) Barry of N. Syracuse, Dirk (Maggie) Barry of South Windsor, CT, and by two daughters, Annemarie B. Landon and Elaine B. Tyler of Baldwinsville; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother Jack Barry of West Hartford, CT. He was predeceased by a brother Robert, and two sisters, Dorothy Shuler and Joan Goodwin./ppA Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 Wednesday, October 12, at St. Mary’s Church, Baldwinsville.
