pMorley— David Royal Mattice, 71, of County Rte 14, Canton, died Monday, October 17, 2016 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital./ppThe family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 19 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton. His funeral will be held Thursday, October 20 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Lay Minister John Frary officiating. /ppAdditional off-street parking is available behind “Luna” on Park Street./pp David was born May 13, 1945, in Potsdam, NY, a son of the late, Vernon & Martha (Babbitt) Mattice. He attended Madrid-Waddington High School until the death of his father, at which time he took over the family farm. He was later drafted into the US Army, serving from Sept 28, 1966 to May 3, 1966 when he was honorably (medically) discharged./ppOn February 19, 1967, he married Donna J. Votra at the First Presbytrian Church in Potsdam with Rev. Jack Wells as celebrant. The couple were married nearly /pp50 years. David was employed as a Transport driver for Griffith Energy and previously for Parish Energy./ppSurviving are his wife, Donna of Morley; his daughter, Angela (Truman, Jr.) Swinyer of Norwood; two sons, David, Jr. (Suzanne) of Balston Lake, Ny and Erich (Kimberly) of Canton; a brother, Douglas Mattice of Parishville; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews./ppDavid was a Past Chief and Commissioner, as well as, an EMT for Morley Fire Department.
