pMary M. Buell, 87 of Gouverneur, NY and formerly of Dexter, passed away Wednesday morning at the Gouverneur Hospital ER./ppMary was born July 6, 1929 in the Town of Watertown the daughter of Joseph and Emma Covey Locksmith. She graduated from Evans Mills High School in 1946 attended Albany College and graduated from Potsdam College with a teaching degree./ppMary married Clifford P. Buell on July 2, 1949 in Lorraine. The couple lived on Pillar Point from 1955 until Mr. Buell passed away on November 29, 2004. Shortly after his death she moved to Gouverneur to be near her son./ppMary taught first grade at Watertown City Schools from 1952 until 1991 when she retired. She was a member of NYSUT, a former member of the Eastern Stars; she loved music and played the trumpet since she was in the 8th grade. She loved to cook and was a “Dedicated Teacher”./ppShe is survived by a son Paul and Kathleen Buell of Gouverneur, NY. She has nieces and nephews surviving./ppShe was predeceased by two sisters: Gertrude Briant and Cheryl VanAllen./ppFuneral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Burial will follow in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday. Donations may be made to Sackets Harbor Marching Band % Sackets Harbor Central School.
