Jean Ada Miles-Fancher

pGouverneur – Jean Ada Miles-Francher, 88 , passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Francis House in Syracuse. /ppJean was born in Syracuse on October 7, 1928, the daughter of William and Marjorie Longtin Ada. She graduated from Cathedral Academy, Syracuse, in 1945. Her adult life was spent living between Gouverneur, Syracuse, and Vero Beach, Florida. She loved the retail clothing business and throughout her time in Syracuse worked at Chappell’s Department Store, Carpenter & Hughes Opticians, and Flah Company. She enjoyed her retirement years in Vero Beach and Gouverneur where she was a member of the Gouverneur Garden Club, Gouverneur Museum Association, and volunteered at St. James Outreach while enjoying time spent knitting and reading./ppJean is survived by her 4 children Martin and Susan Miles of Cicero, Gary Miles of Gouverneur, Tim and Jane Miles of Warners, Lisa Miles and James Gosier of Pompey. She is also survived by her grandchildren Joseph Miles, Keeley Ann Hines (Mike), Killian Miles, Elizabeth Smith (Erin), Jordanne Rindwald (Daniel), Stephen DeLelys Jr., and Emily Gosier, and 4 great granddaughters Hailee, Gabrielle, Ava, and Madison Jean./ppShe is predeceased by husbands Kenneth J. Miles (1988) and John A. Francher (2004), her parents, her infant daughter Mary Elizabeth Miles, and her daughter-in-law Debra Miles./ppA mass will be held on Saturday, November 12th at 12:00 noon at St. James Catholic Church, Gouverneur with Fr. Shane Lynch officiating and burial in New St. James Cemetery, Gouverneur. A celebration of life luncheon will follow at 2:00 pm at the Casablanca Restaurant, 413 E. Main St, Gouverneur for friends and family to share memories of Jean. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur./ppThe family would to especially thank Dr. Richard C. Cherny and Ann M. Roman, NP (HOA of CNY); staff at Hospice of CNY, as well as Francis House for their gracious and compassionate care throughout Jean’s illness. Memorial donations in Jean’s memory may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13208./p
