Frances E. Romeo

pMassena: Frances Emily Romeo, 89, passed away on November 8, 2016 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial services will be held at a later date./ppEmily was born on October 30, 1927 in Woodstock, VT, the daughter of Joseph and Margarite (White) DeRosie. She attended school in Woodstock, VT, and later moved to Massena graduating from Massena High School in 1945. She worked at Alcoa as a secretary in the offices. On June 19, 1948 she married Sandy Romeo at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Massena. She later went to work at St. Mary’s Church as a Secretary for many years. Emily belonged to the Sacred Heart League and was very involved with the Church. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Grandmothers Prayer Group and was a Third Order Carmelite. Emily treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing golf and dancing with her husband. Emily was always up for a game of bridge with her friends or telling a great joke. She took much love in cooking, sewing, knitting and was a great supporter of the Massena Red Raiders. /ppEmily is survived by four daughters and a son; Carol and Andy Spanburgh of Massena; Sandra and Bob Aaron of Spring Hill TN; Jane and Joe Carr of Herndon, Kentucky; Margaret and Keefe Riley of Massena, Sandy and Colleen Romeo of Fairport, NY; 15 Grandchildren; Megan Loffredo, Scott Aaron, Andrew Spanburgh, Joshua Spanburgh, Marcus Aaron, Greg Morris, Sarah Spanburgh, Jimmy Morris, Mary Dupriest, Emily Tipovski, Anna Riley, Conor Riley, Nick Romeo, Alex Romeo and Ryan Romeo, and 13 great grandchildren, beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. /ppShe was predeceased by a daughter Mary C. Romeo in 2002, and her husband Sandy in 2016; a brother, Joseph DeRosie; a sister, Marjorie Cappione. /ppMemorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
