Belva Lehman

pNEW BREMEN – Belva Lehman, 84, of Patty Street, died Wednesday November 9, 2016, at her home while under the care of her family and hospice./ppMrs. Lehman was the wife of the late Clifton Lehman formerly of Castorland. Mrs. Lehman was noted in the community as a landlord and nurse at Carthage Area Hospital./ppBorn November 17, 1931, at Lewis County General Hospital, the daughter of the late John and Anna Moshier, she graduated from Lowville Free Academy School, after which she went to work in Lowville as a clerk at Sunderhaft’s Clothing Store. In 1965, she received her nursing license./ppShe married Clifton Lehman on October 4, 1950 at the Lowville Mennonite Church with Rev. Lloyd Boshart officiating. Clifton died on September 12, 2007./ppShe was a founding member of both the Pine Grove Mennonite Church in Watson and New Life Fellowship in Beaver Falls. She is currently a member of Abundant Life Community Church in Lowville./ppShe loved helping others as a nurse, landlord and teacher of children. Red and Black Football was her passion and she rarely missed a game at home. Camping and traveling were on the agenda every summer. Her dogs Binki and DD were her last set of children and were loved and cared for with the utmost diligence./ppSurviving are her four children, Lawson and Carol Lehman of Lowville, Delbert and Kathy Lehman, Donna and Nelson Grau of Patty Street, New Bremen, and Glendon and Sharlene Lehman of Castorland, six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren./ppShe was predeceased by her three brothers, Ezra, Rueben, and Floyd Moshier and her sister Alma Moshier. Family was of utmost importance to her and she enjoyed cooking and entertaining people at her home. Many people have eaten at her table and enjoyed her hospitality./ppCalling hours will be at Naumburg Mennonite Church on Friday, November 11, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. with a committal service on Saturday November 12th at 10 a.m. at Croghan Mennonite Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. at the Naumburg Mennonite Church.
