pMarilyn Hibbert Eager Hill, 90, daughter of the late AJ and Opal Hibbert of Watertown, NY died on November 10 in Sleepy Hollow, NY after a long illness. /ppArrangements are under the direction of Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, NY. /ppMarilyn was the last surviving member of seven Hibbert children. Born in Watertown, NY, Marilyn’s spent her early life in Chaumont, NY, later moving back to Watertown and spending summers at their cottage in the Thousand Islands. /ppMarilyn graduated from Watertown High School in 1944 and from Russell Sage College in 1948 with a degree in Physical Education. /ppFollowing graduation, she and her college roommate applied for jobs in Yakima, Washington. They boarded a train with skis in hand and headed for the western frontier. To pay for lift tickets they volunteered for the Ski Patrol. She recalled that their food consisted primarily of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Marilyn was living her dream. /ppIn 1950 Marilyn met and then married Henry (“Hank”) Eager, also of Watertown. The couple made their home in Watertown where they had two children, Tom and Mary Ann. In 1956, Hank was transferred to New York City, and the young family moved to Hastings-on- Hudson, NY where they resided for 27 years. Marilyn taught physical education part time, was very involved in church and community activities and became an active member of the Ardsley Curling Club. During this time, Marilyn took up quilting which became her passion for the rest of her life. In 1983, Marilyn and her husband retired in Watertown, spending happy summers together at their cottage in Chaumont, NY. Marilyn and a group of like-minded women began the North Country Quilt Guild. Marilyn would rise before the sun and retreat to her quilting room. In the last 30 years of her life she made countless quilts and wall hangings, giving many as gifts to her children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. /ppAfter Henry died in 2004 Marilyn became reconnected with Robert Hill of Irvington, NY. Marilyn and Bob were married in 2005. The couple resided at Kendal-on- Hudson, a retirement community in Sleepy Hollow, NY./ppMarilyn is survived by her husband Bob, her son Tom (Betsy), of Sunset, Texas and her daughter Mary (Jim) Cline, of Hamilton, Montana, her four grandchildren, Tristan and Kevin Eager, who reside in Texas, and Jenna Clark (Brandon) and Jon Koch (Jackie), of Baltimore. /ppCalling hours will be held at the Cleveland Funeral Home at 404 Sherman Street, Watertown, NY on Sunday, November 13th between the hours of 5 and 7 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday November 14th at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church at 403 Washington St, Watertown, NY.
