William P. Plante

pWilliam Paul Plante, 58, of Watertown, passed away on November 13, 2016 while surrounded by his family. William, the son of Paul William and Phyllis Burns Plante, was born in Watertown on November 29, 1957. On December 30, 1983, he married the love of his life, Judith Lynn Coleman, at Holy Family Church. /ppWilliam was a 1976 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central High School, Watertown and received a B.S. in Environmental Studies in 1984 from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University. William often volunteered his time to support his local community and church. He recently received the Friends of IHC School Award in recognition for his hard work and dedication to IHC. He had previously served on the school boards of Holy Family and IHC as well as the Board of Directors for the Thompson Park Conservancy. He also spent many years organizing and coaching youth lacrosse in the area. /ppHe is survived by his wife, Judith and the following children: Ryan William (Alexandra), Brooklyn, NY; Kyle Paul, Syracuse, NY; Aimée Elisabeth, Saratoga Springs, NY; and Cole Michael, Watertown, NY and one beautiful grandchild, Grace Coleman Plante. Also surviving him are his mother, Phyllis Plante, Watertown, siblings Steven (Karyn), Fayetteville; John, Watertown; Nancy Martel (David), Watertown; mother and father-in-law Michael and Virginia Coleman; brothers-in-law Michael Coleman (Lisa), Harlem, GA; Kenneth Coleman (Shawn), Harlem, GA; Alan Coleman (Kathy), Harlem, GA; Kevin Coleman (Jill), Grovetown, GA; and multiple nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. His father, Paul Plante, predeceased William./ppCalling hours will take place on Tuesday, November 15, from 4-7 PM at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Sterling Street, Watertown. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16, at 9:15 AM followed by the funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray, pastor, presiding. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Heart Central Schools, 1316 Ives St. and/or Holy Family Church, 129 Winthrop St., both in Watertown, NY 13601.
