pWaddington: Shelly L. French, age 48, of McKnight Rd. Chase Mills, NY died in a late evening fire at her family home on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. Calling hours for Shelly will be held at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena, where family and friends are welcome to call Saturday Nov. 19, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services starting at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Donna Fitchette officiating. Memorial contributions and donations in Shelly’s memory may be shared with the St. Lawrence Valley SPCA; 6718 NY-68, Ogdensburg, NY 13669./ppShelly was born Sept. 23, 1968 in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Linette Lee (Freeman) and Paul G. Goleski Jr. She was a graduate of Madrid-Waddington High School of Class of ‘87 and also of Norwood-Norfolk BOCES with a degree in Nursing. Shelly was a truly loving and caring individual, and her husband, Timothy J. French, would know that the most, as they entered into marriage on Oct. 8, 1988 in Waddington, by the Justice of the Peace, the Honorable Robert McKnight./ppAs a LPN, Shelly’s caring nature was evident in the various health facilities that she worked at. She began work at the Moongate Nursing Home in Canton, the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, Dr. Lizardi’s office in Potsdam and her last employment with CPH at the Norfolk Community Health Center./ppAs many of her close family and friends could see, Tim was her rock, her inspiration and her balance. A kind soul who enjoyed caring and being around animals, cooking, crocheting and traveling to visit her sister Kimmy and brother-in-law Jamie and their girls. Her cravings for Starbucks Coffee was apparent by the ones that knew her best and could not get enough of it with when traveling to Pittsburgh with her niece’s Kenzie and Jamie. Coffee and cigarettes were typically shared alongside close friends and family sitting on the family porch and held over great and cherished conversations./ppShelly was a proud grandmother, known as “Bama” and loved taking care of her beloved “Meme” at the time of Shelly’s passing. Another great joy, was being a second mom to both Kaylee and Kyle Whalen./ppShelly is survived by her loving husband, Timothy J. French and their beautiful children, Timothy J. French II and wife Madison “Maddy” of Canton, NY, Krystal French and companion Stephen Hollis of Norwood, NY and Nickolas French and companion Kasey McIntosh of Waddington, NY, mother Linette Lee Robertson of Massena and siblings Kenneth Goleski and partner Kevin Yackmack of Aliquippa, PA, Kimmy and husband Jamie LaJoy of Brighton Township, PA, Stacy Putney of Massena and Vernon and Stacey Putney of Fullerton, CA. Also surviving Shelly are her grandchildren Holly Jane French of Waddington, Mason and Aspen Hollis both of Norwood, and nieces Kenzie and “Baby” Jamie along with her lifelong friend and partner in crime, Sarah Burhans-Whalen of Chase Mills and her husband Todd Burhans-Whalen.
