pANTWERP - N. Clyde Pickert, 86, of Madison Avenue, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY./ppBorn on October 3, 1930 in Gouverneur, NY, he was a son of P. Lawrence and Elizabeth Reddick Pickert. He graduated from Antwerp High School in 1949./ppClyde entered the US Army Medical Corp in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1953./ppHe married Gertrude M. Brunell on May 9, 1953 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Antwerp, NY with Rev. Hubert Hannan, officiating./ppClyde worked for the family business, PL Pickert & Sons, Inc., Antwerp, NY, becoming president of the corporation in 1977 and retiring in 2010. After retiring, he was custodian for Antwerp Town Hall./ppHe was a 64 year member and past commander of the Antwerp American Legion, Post No. 916. He was also a member of the Antwerp Fire Department, Antwerp Town Board and Antwerp Library Board./ppClyde enjoyed mechanical work, country music and spending time with his grandchildren./ppSurvivors include his wife of 63 years, Gert; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Roy Culbertson and Barbara Pickert, all of Calcium, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Carol Pickert, San Marcos, TX; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Pickert, Antwerp, NY; a brother, Gerald Pickert, Antwerp, NY; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins./ppHis parents and a brother, Elon Pickert died before him./ppFuneral Services will be 6 pm Monday, November 21, 2016 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY with Rev. Christopher Looby, officiating.
