pMadrid: Violet M. Tiernan, 72, of Madrid, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2016 at the Canton Potsdam Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, Noon, at the Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid. A Funeral Mass will be held on the same day at 12:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Church in Madrid. Burial will take place on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1:00 pm in St. John’s Cemetery, Madrid./ppViolet was born on August 6, 1944 in Canton, NY, the daughter of Clinton and Bertha (Dowe) Paro. She attended school in the Canton area and later married Ronald Tiernan on July 4, 1964 in Waddington, NY. In her younger years, Violet and her husband traveled around the area until they settled down in Madrid to raise their family. She worked at Wadhams Hall in Ogdensburg for 38 years, retiring with the title head cook. She enjoyed camping and all of the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Violet enjoyed watching NASCAR and following her favorite driver, Earnhardt Jr./ppViolet is survived by her three daughters, Debra and Michael Kenny of Waddington, Bobbie Jo Tiernan and Harold Corbin of Charles City, VA, Julie Derouchie of Potsdam; nine grandchildren, Joseph IV, Corey, Brendan, Brandon, Nicholas, Cody, Joshua, Ashley and Tyler; great grandchildren, Noah, Parker, Eli, Gracie Rose, Liam and Noelle; a brother, Clinton Paro of Texas; two sisters, Linda and husband Ken Anderson of Peru, NY and Margaret Smith of Okeechobee, Florida and many nieces and nephews./ppShe is predeceased by her husband Ronald; a sister, Betty Emrich./ppMemorial Contributions in Violet’s memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley./ppArrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid.
