pPOTSDAM – Mrs. Bertha E. Latrielle, 89, of 633 Mayfield Drive, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, November 19, 2016 at the home of her granddaughter, Debbie Murray, in Norwood./ppBertha was born May 26, 1927 in Morristown, the daughter of the late Morris and Emily Burkum Sharlow and went various local schools. Bertha was a homemaker and worked for a short time in the food service department at Potsdam State College. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, and loved to go shopping./ppBertha is survived by her daughters, Joyce and John Hough of Potsdam and Helen Pierce of West Potsdam; her grandchildren, Randy, Allen, and Rick LaValley, Robert Pierce, Debbie Murray, and Amy Murphy, Lisa Wagstaff, Wendy Rufa, Mike and Mark Buffham, and Whitney Smith, many great and great-great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Toomey of Rensselaer Falls; and many nieces and nephews./ppIn addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husbands, Stanley A. Smith, Robert Lavigne, and Rene “Ray” Latrielle; her son, Stanley E. Smith in 2002; a grandson, James “Jay” Smith in 2012; her brothers, Gene, Ernest, Leo, Alvin, Earl, Bernard, and Donald Sharlow; and her sisters, Sylvia Wright, Dorothy Wood, Rita Hockey, and Irene Smith./ppFriends may call Tuesday 4-7:00 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where a celebration of life will be held at 7:00 PM.
