pMrs. Nora K. Clarke, 89, formerly of Cottage St. Potsdam, NY passed away on Monday, December 05, 2016 at Elderwood of Liverpool, NY. She inspired others with her playful singing and cheerful manner during her years with dementia. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service. Private family visitation and services will be held this week at the Garner Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Rocker celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam. Nora is survived by her daughter Ann (Steven) Kokkoris of Central Square, NY; daughter in law Susan Clarke of Surfside Beach, SC; sister Mary Gorman of Hilton, NY; grandson Nolan Kokkoris of Central Square, NY; and several extended family members. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Clarke, who passed in 2005; her son Patrick Clarke, who also died in 2005; and her brothers William, Paul, Robert, Lawrence and Harry McKenna. Nora was born on July 26, 1927 in Massena, NY to the late Francis McKenna and Anna Sullivan McKenna. She was a 1945 graduate of Potsdam High School and afterward, Watertown School of Commerce. On July 30, 1955 she married her A&P store sweetheart, Charles H. Clarke at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, NY. Nora was a secretary at Clarkson College and Potsdam State Teacher’s College before motherhood. Nora relished the simple joys of home, family, St. Mary’s Church, country music, dancing, singing, babies, porch visits, company, playing cards (not w/ her sister), bingo nights, and eating her husband’s great cooking.
