pClayton; The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Vivian F. Black, age 90, will be at 11am on Monday Dec. 12th, at St. Mary’s Church, with Ft. Arthur LaBaff officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery./ppCalling hours will be from 1-4pm Sunday at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton./ppVivian was born March 1, 1926, in Utica, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Crumb Farley. /ppShe graduated from Utica Catholic Schools and New Rochelle College, and earned her Masters Degree from Syracuse University./ppOn August 18th, 1950, she married Jeremiah Black at Lady of Our Lords Catholic Church in Utica. Mr. Black died April 8th, 1977, at age 56./ppVivian taught at 1000 Islands High School, where she taught Spanish and Remedial English, retiring in 1988 after 35 years./ppShe was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Clayton Travelers Club, AA of University Women, and AFS. /ppVivian was the first woman on the Clayton Town Board, and citizen of the year./ppShe enjoyed reading, volunteering, talking, crossword puzzles, and her spending time with her family./ppSurviving are two daughters, Margaret (Bill) Bartlett of Rochester, and Mary (Craig “Pete”) Orvis of Rosiere; two sons, Tom (Sharon) of Camillus, and David (Lisa) of Columbia Georgia; Ten grandchildren; Thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Gilroy of Utica; nieces and nephews./ppTwo sons, Daniel P. died in 1979 at age 25, and Matthew J. died in 1985 at age 23./ppDonations can be made in her name to the Food Pantry at St. Mary’s Church, James Street, Clayton, N.Y. 13624./ppCondolences can be made at trjetty.com/p
