pTurin- Evelyn J. Burmingham, 89, of West Main St., widow of William, passed away at her residence on Sunday, February 21, 2016, while under the care of her loving family and Lewis Co. Hospice./ppShe was born in Lyons Falls, on August 26, 1926, a daughter of Matthew and Carolyn Fegley Dorrity, Sr. Evelyn grew up in Kelpytown, graduating from Port Leyden Central School, with the Class of 1944. She was united in marriage with William R. Burmingham; later the couple moved to Turin, where they purchased the Turin Inn, in 1967./ppThe Burminghams were proprietors of the Turin Inn until 1983, when they sold the Inn to their son, Thomas. For many years Evelyn was employed at the Inn as bar tender and cook. During those years Mrs. Burminghama was also employed as a seamstress at Kristen International Ski Clothing Co. of Turin and at Lally Mgs. Co. Port Leyden. From 1986 until retiring in 1997, she was employed as a cleaner at South Lewis High School, Turin. Evelyn greatly enjoyed her role as mother to her six children; she served her family faithfully as a homemaker from 1944-2016. Mr. Burmingham passed away on June 28, 1991./ppEvelyn enjoyed spending time at the family’s camp at Brantingham Lake, as well as reading, sewing, raising flowers, cooking, attending garage sales and thrift shopping at Matthews Place, Boonville. /ppShe is survived by her children; Kay Ann (George) Bittner, Cleveland, NY, Nancy Bauer, Greig, William “Jim” Burmingham, Turin, and Thomas (Julie) Burmingham, Turin. She was predeceased by a daughter, Annette Duncan, and a son, Dennis, “Mike” and his longtime companion, Pauli Perkins and by a son in law, Eric Bauer. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and a son in law, John Duncan, Constableville, a sister in law and brother in law, Mary Ann Burmingham Fraser and William, Mattydale. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Matthew Dorrity, Jr./ppFuneral Services will be Friday at 5:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where visitation hours will be from 3-5 p.m. Interment will be in Turin Cemetery, in the spring.
