Margaret Julia Bouldis Schaefer was born on April 20, 1937 in Buffalo, NY. She lived her early years in Amherst, NY. Mrs. Schaefer graduated from Amherst Central High School in 1954. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William Harold Schaefer, children Kenneth Joseph, David William, Edward Donald, and Cynthia Louis. Her children all attended Starpoint Central School where Marge was active in PTA. Her children were all involved in scouting. Marge was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and introduced new scouts and their families into Cub Scouting. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and a Senior Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered at a local Headstart Program and Goodwill Industries for several years in Buffalo, NY. For many years, Marge was the President of the Home Services Committee, a group of volunteers that worked with disabled that were homebound. In 1978, she and her husband Bill purchased a small resort on a lake in St. Lawrence County in New York State. After a short transition time they relocated to that property and started spending winters traveling. They spent winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was active in the Black Lake Commerce and for several years published the “Black Lake Guide” advertising and information Booklet. Marge later founded the Black Lake Association, an association of business and property owners around the lakes devoted to environmental and other issues of concern. She served as President of the organization for several years.The Black Lakes Association was invited into the New York State Federation of Lake Associates. It joined the federation and within a few years Marge was elected and served as president for several years. When wintering in Gulf Shores she organized several Women’s Breakfast Club and enjoyed them for many years. Everywhere she went she was always willing to volunteer including at the Annual Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast in Gulf Shores. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or local hospice.
