Leonard A. “Tony” Simpson

THERESA- Leonard A. “Tony” Simpson, 76, of State Rt. 26, died suddenly at home on Friday, January 27, 2017.

Born on April 7, 1940 in Hartland, Maine, he was the only son of William and Beatrice Hackey Simpson. He graduated from Hartland Academy and the University of Maine, Orono, ME, receiving his BA in Chemical Engineering.

Mr. Simpson married Sandra Davis of Rochester, NH in 1964. The couple moved to Argyle, NY in 1969.

He was employed with Hollingsworth & Vose paper mill, Greenwich, NY, moving to Theresa in 1992 and worked for Knowlton Technologies, Watertown, NY, retiring in 2000.

Mr. Simpson was currently a sitting Judge for the Town of Theresa Court. He was also a member of the Theresa Rotary, NYS Magistrate Association, Past member of Greenwich Lions Club and Past member of the Argyle Central School Board.

He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, canoeing, boating, his vegetable garden and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sandy; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Mark Simpson and Kathleen Murray, Marcellus, NY, Rob and Cheryl Simpson, Argyle, NY and Jeremy and Laurin Simpson, Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter, Jennifer Benya, Mexico, ME; five grandchildren, Neil and his wife Katie, Leah, Ian, Alicen and Andrea.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Theresa, NY with Rev. Christopher Looby, officiating.

Calling hours will be 5 -7 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Theresa Food Pantry, c/o Kenneth McCormick, 30611 Moon Lake Rd., Theresa, NY 13691 or to the Theresa Rotary Club, c/o Scott Brown, 27960 Co. Rt. 193, Theresa, NY 13691.
