Korleen C. Cook

PHILADELPHIA - Korleen C. Cook, 93, formerly of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, NY.

Born on May 31, 1923 at the Theresa Hospital in Theresa, NY, she was a daughter of Arthur and Hazel Shannon Chapin and attended Philadelphia High School.

She married Karl E. Cook on April 27, 1940 in Copenhagen, NY. Mr. Cook was a roofer for Ralph Pitts & Sons, Antwerp, NY and died November 29, 1983.

Korleen worked in housekeeping at the former House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, NY for more than twenty years.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include five children; a daughter, Josephine Steele, Philadelphia, NY, a daughter-in-law, Brenda Cook, Antwerp, NY, a son, Leland Cook, Antwerp, NY, a daughter and son-in-law, Maida and Doug Hays, Mount Hope, KS, a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and James Phippins, Prescott, AZ, a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Katherine Cook, Evans Mills, NY; one hundred seventeen plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her parents, her husband, a son, Purl “Pete” Cook in 2009, a daughter, Theresa Ann at age 10 in 1953, two sisters, Thelma Hagan and Maida Doughtery all died before her.

A Memorial Service will be 11 am Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Indian River Baptist Church, Philadelphia, NY, with her great-grandson, Michael Adams, presiding. Guests are invited to a reception following services at the church. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Antwerp, NY at a later date.
