HANNAWA FALLS – Mr. Eugene Mark Snyder, 90, of 31 Church Street, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 8, 2017 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since October 2015.
Eugene was born October 3, 1926 in Hannawa Falls, the son of the late Francis Mark “Tim” and Lillian Knight Snyder and attended schools in Hannawa Falls. Eugene proudly served his country in the US Navy on the USS Lexington during WW II. On October 17, 1950, he married Shirley Stone in Canton.
Eugene worked at Niagara Mohawk in Potsdam for many years, retiring as a line foreman. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, VFW and American Legion.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his son, Andy of Hannawa Falls; his grandchildren, Zachary Mark Snyder, John Dean Snyder, and Mia Dawson Snyder; many nieces and nephews, including Robert Huckle.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by a son, Lance Snyder on December 25, 1980; his brother, Frank Snyder; and his sisters, Beverly Huckle and Betty Lucien.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday 4-6 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam. Burial will be held at a later date in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Colton.
