Ramon P. “Ray” Messina, age 63 of Ogdensburg passed away on Friday (Feb 10, 2017) unexpectedly at his home. As per Ray’s request, a private family gathering will be held at Vinn’s Restaurant on Monday.
Surviving is his mother Helen of Ogdensburg; three brothers Joseph (Barbara) Messina of Maryland, Douglas (Mary Kathryn) Messina of Fulton NY and Robert Messina of Ogdensburg; a sister Marianna (Richard) Hart of Cicero NY, along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.
His father Joseph Messina predeceased him.
Ray was born on April 7, 1953 in Watertown NY, a son of Joseph & Helen (Comins) Messina. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued his education at Massey Jr. College in Atlanta GA majoring in Photography.
During his career he worked for several restaurants as a line cook, worked in the kitchen at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, traveled the country as a photographer for colleges, was a laborer at Acco International and Ed-Med, and most recently was a radio technician for Q-Country, Yes FM and Pack 93.
Ray enjoyed playing guitar, music of all kind, canoeing, outdoor activities, gardening, family gatherings and socializing with friends.
