Pillar Point; Mr. Hillard E. Bancroft, 94, died Sunday, at the home of his daughter, in Watertown.
Calling hours will be 7-9pm on Friday, Feb.17th, at the TLC Funeral Home. There will be Military Honors provided by Fort Drum, will be at 8pm during the calling hours.
Mr. Bancroft was born January 8th, 1923, in Gouverneur, the son of Verton and Helen Bancroft.
He attended Gouverneur Schools, and then entered the United States Army on Jan. 2nd, 1943, and was honorably discharged Oct. 28th, 1945 at the rank of Corporal. While in the service, he served in England, Rhineland, and North France as a Medical Corpsman.
Mr. Bancroft then married the former Florence E. Lawrence; she died October 12th, 1996.
He worked for many years at Black Clawson as a Machinist Foreman, retiring in the late 1980’s.
Surviving is one daughter, Deborah Bancroft of Watertown; one grand daughter, Hillary Rowland (Collins) of Watertown; two great grandchildren, Riley and Logan Collins, of Watertown; his loving cat, Sweet Pea.
