Barbara A. Flath

Barbara A. Bishop Flath, age 77 of Mullin Road, Dexter, passed away Tuesday evening at Summitt Nursing Home in Watertown.

Barbara was born March 18, 1939 in Watertown, the daughter of Harry and Hazel Marks Bishop. She graduated from Brownville/ Glen Park High School in 1957 and in 1985 she graduated from JCC with a Registered Nurse degree.

Barbara worked as a Registered Nurse at Samaritan Medical Center retiring in 2000. She was also Deputy Town Clerk in Brownville for several years.

Barbara was a member of the Dexter American Legion Auxiliary.

She married Wendell W. Flath Sr. on July 18, 1958 at the Stone Street Presbyterian Church in Watertown.

Surviving her is her husband Wendell, two sons: Wendell Flath Jr. and his wife Becky of Dexter, Steven (Michael) Flath of LaFargeville, a daughter-in-law, Diane Flath of Dexter, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A brother Richard Bishop of Natural Bridge and a sister Marie Cuty of Louisiana also survive along with nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son Richard “Dickie” Flath and a grandson Richard Flath.

Funeral service will be Saturday 1:00 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 6-9 P.M. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery in the spring.
