Joyce B. Steria

LOWVILLE- Joyce B. Steria, 85, of South State Street, died Wednesday afternoon, March 1, 2017 at home under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Bruce Roggie officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Croghan Mennonite Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.

She is survived by five children, Darlene Michalski of Lowville; Bruce V. Steria of Martinsburg; Donald R. Steria of Blossvale; Victor D. Steria and his lifetime partner Anthony Philips of Keystone Heights, Florida; Tina Kaler of Lowville; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Victor Steria, who died on April 10, 1999; a son, Kenneth P. Steria who died in April of 2006; a daughter, Tammy L. Steria, who died shortly after birth; a sister, Carol Houppert and a brother, Ralph Cobb Sr.

Joyce was born on April 11, 1931 in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of the late Merwin and Olive Northrup Cobb. She attended Lowville Academy. On December 15, 1948 she married Victor Steria at Lowville Methodist Church Parsonage. She then worked to raise her family. Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated 21 dairy farms in Lewis County.

She loved flowers, flower gardening, and sitting on her porch enjoying the sunshine. She also enjoyed going for car rides and shopping.
