Lillian Dawley, 92, passed away March 5th, 2017. Formally of Floral Drive, Lillian was a resident at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home since December 2014.
There are no calling hours. A mass will be held at Holy Family Church 11:00am Thursday, March 9th, Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will follow the mass in Glenwood Cemetery.
Lillian was born September 15, 1924 to Richard & Flora Collins of Manhattan, New York. She graduated from Vocational High School in Jamaica, NY and worked as a beautician at Schiavellsi Beauty Salon in NYC.
Lillian married John C. Dawley July 21, 1946 at St. Baylor Rectory on 112-43 98th Street NY. Lillian & John moved to Watertown where she opened her own beauty salon on the North side of town. Later on, Lillian worked at several town establishments including the Elks Club, Black River Valley Club, & Ramada Inn.
After her and John retired, they moved to Spring Hill Florida until 1999 when they returned to Watertown. John Dawley, retired Sergeant Watertown Police Department, passed away October 17, 2008.
Surviving are 3 children, Aileen of Watertown, Tom & Mary of Watertown, Lillian & Mike Kinney of Watertown; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Jean Dacy, of Phoenix, AZ.
Her daughter Aileen & family would like to thank all the wonderful people of the 3rd floor of Samaritan Keep Nursing Home for the great care they have given Lillian over the past 2 years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Jefferson County SPCA –or- PAWS4Potter K9 cancer foundation, 1631 State Street, Watertown.
