Glenville, NY--- Robert “Bob” W. McBroom, 83, former long-time Ballston Lake resident, died on Sunday, March 5th 2017 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Scotia following a long illness.
Bob was born on May 4, 1933 in Oswegatchie, NY and was the son of the late Daniel F. and Marie V. (Gauthier) McBroom.
He was a graduate of Clifton Fine High School and ATI College (SUNY Canton) where he received his Associates Degree. He had a long and rewarding career at General Electric, Co. in Schenectady until his retirement after 35 years as a drafting technician.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in Ballston Lake.
Bob was a member & past chief of the Ballston Lake Fire Department and a 25-year member of the GE 25th Century Club. He also enjoyed woodworking, painting and working in his yard.
Bob joins in death the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” McBroom and his beloved daughter Debra.
He is survived by his loving sister Pauline Hamele, and his loving children Darryl McBroom and his wife Jan, Ann Woods and her husband Dennis, Mary Hawkinson and her husband Sean; caring grandfather of Tina, Melissa (Chris), Christine (Elija), Adam (Marina), Craig (Christina), Ryan, Lauren (Justin) & Aaron and great grandfather of Manion, Declan, Darius and Tatiana.
He is also survived by son-in law Bob Nichols, two nephews, Richard & Donald, one niece Sandra and his very special friend and companion this past year, Gisele.
Our family would like to give special thanks to the staff on H-1 at Baptist for the professional and wonderful care over the last year and a half to make dad’s time there comfortable.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday March 10th, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Townley and Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd., Ballston Lake, NY 12019.
Funeral will begin on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 9:15AM at the funeral home and then process to Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, where at 10 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Fr. Peter Russo will preside.
Interment will be in the family plot at Wanakena Cemetery at a later date.
