WANAKENA-- Paul R. “Barney” Peacock, 82 , of South Shore Rd., formerly of Antwerp, NY, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, March 6, 2017.
Born on April 12, 1934 in Watertown, NY he was the son of the late Roy B. and Bessie Parker Peacock. He graduated from Antwerp High School in 1952.
Paul entered the U.S.Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1956 as part of the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard).
He married Margaret H. “Peggy” Hall on August 2, 1958 at the First Congregational Church of Antwerp with Rev. McMillan, officiating. Mrs. Peacock died July 28, 2016.
Mr. Peacock was a sheet metal worker starting his career working for Sanders Sheet Metal of Antwerp then working for various companies as a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 58 of Syracuse, NY. He retired in the late 1990’s after working for Farley Roofing of Gouverneur, NY.
Paul was a charter member of the Original Yanks Drum and Bugle Corps of Antwerp, member of the Antwerp Fire Dept., Antwerp Congregational Church, Antwerp Masonic Lodge, Antwerp American Legion Post 916, Star Lake Pistol and Rifle Club, Tupper Lake Rod and Gun Club, and was a life member of the NRA.
Survivors include four children, a son, Paul R. Peacock, II of Crestview, FL, a son and daughter-in-law, John and Deborah Peacock of Neosho, MO, a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tom Binder of Merritt Island, FL and a daughter, Cheryl Rock of East Nassau, NY; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law C. Lambert Baker of DeLand, FL; nieces, nephews, cousins and a great-grandson Paul R. Peacock IV is expected in August.
His parents, his wife and a sister, Jean Baker all died before him.
