Michael Levato

Canton – Michael “Moose” Levato, 59, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 17, 2017. Michael was born in Canton on July 22, 1957, the son of Ross “Moose” and Eileen (Lawler) Levato. He graduated from Canton School and attended St. John Fisher University. He graduated from St. Lawrence University and Syracuse University School of Law.

Following graduation, he had a private practice in Canton for many years; most recently he has been serving as Magistrate for St. Lawrence County Family Court. Michael was a devout fan of SLU Hockey, Notre Dame Football and Golf. He has been a strong supporter of youth athletic programs.

Michael is survived by his wife, Peggy Ssue and son Anthony. Also surviving are sisters, Lee Lawler Rudel and Kris Levato Barrigar of Canton and Elaine Levato Shortino of Wilmer, Texas as well as three nieces, a nephew and cousins.

This gentle giant will be deeply missed by the many lives he has touched.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church, Canton, with Rev. Dougla J. Lucia, Celebrating.
