pLOWVILLE - Margaret C. “Peg” “Granny” Petrovitz, 84, died Tuesday morning at her home, March 1, 2016./ppMrs. Petrovitz was born March 18, 1931 in Constableville, the daughter of Wendaline W. and Catherine M. (Bernholz) Duppert. She graduated from Constableville High School and married Raymond D. McGrath, Sr. The couple made their home in Lowville on Sharp Street. Mr. McGrath died on February 1, 1960. /ppOn May 13, 1961 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Peg married Ernest Petrovitz with Rev. Howard Gosier, officiating. Mr. Petrovitz died January 20, 2003. /ppPeg was the Deputy Commissioner of the Fraud Unit for Lewis County Social Services for many years. She was secretary and life member of the Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912 Auxiliary where she celebrated 55 plus years as a member, was an auxiliary member of the Lewis County General Hospital where she could be found helping in the Gift Shop, and member of the Rosary Altar Society and treasurer of the 200 Club. /ppWhen she was younger she had garden. Peg enjoyed knitting and went to craft fairs to support the V.F.W. auxiliary and loved spending time with her family. /ppPeg is survived by her two children, Raymond D. and Joan McGath, Jr. of Brattleboro, VT; Catherine Granger and her companion William Leahy of Lowville; her grandchildren, Shawn and his wife Tracy, Todd and his wife Ronni, Ryan, Heather and her husband David, Laurel and her husband Tony, and Michael; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Cole, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ian, Justin, Hailey, Diego, and Olivia; her three sisters, Eva and Donnie Shambo of Constableville; Ann Colleen of Danville, IL; Barb Narrow of Calcium; her brother, James and Maureen Duppert of Constableville; several nieces and nephews. She dearly loved the king of the house, her cat, “Mary Jane”./ppMrs. Petrovitz was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be said on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor officiating. Spring burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery.
