Norma J. Pond

Boonville- Norma J. Pond, 80, of Erwin Street passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 unexpectedly at her home.

She was born in Watertown, NY on March 8, 1937, a daughter of Leonard and Hazel Ella Vary Pfister. She grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown high school in 1955. On August 6, 1958 she was united in marriage with Kenneth Pond at the Bethany Methodist Church, Watertown. He died January 27, 2013. After the couple were married they lived in Texas where Kenneth was stationed in the Air Force. Upon his discharge they moved to Watertown and in 1960 moved to Boonville settling on Ford Street. In 1965 they moved to Erwin Street. Norma was employed at various establishments and stores in Boonville. She was employed for several years at Fay’s Pharmacy in Boonville as a cashier/clerk. She was a member of the Boonville United Methodist Church. Norma enjoyed reading, her grandchildren and short trips.

Surviving are three sons, Randy Pond, Boonville, Robert Pond, Dallas, Texas, Craig Pond, Boonville; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Penczek, Turin; one brother Kenneth Pfister, Watertown; one sister, Natalie Thomas, Brewerton, NY; grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew and Bralyn Pond, Stacie and Michael Ramos, Andrew Penczek , Evan and Hannah Penczek, Madison, Connor, Kristen Pond, Nicholas Pond and Victoria Weber and great grandchildren, Kaylee, Levi, Rya and Easton Pond. Norma was predeceased by one brother, Robert Beecher and two sisters, Shirley Newman and Beverly Biondolillo.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be later in the spring in Boonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Boonville United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society or to the Diabetes Association.
