pCarthage, NY- Terry L. Getman, 70, of Schwendy Drive, died the morning of March 1st at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia after a brief illness. /ppTerry was born in Carthage on January 22, 1946 and was a 1965 graduate of Carthage Central High School. He married Donna J. Zecher on April 18, 1970. Terry worked many years at the former St. Regis paper mill in Deferiet before transferring to Southern Container in Solvay, NY where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of BPOE Lodge# 1762 in Carthage, a past Fire Chief and a benevolent member of the West Carthage Vol. Fire Department as well as a former member of the Hornets Firematics Drill Team. /ppA lover of the outdoors, Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating and was happiest at his home on Pleasant Lake. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he cherished spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered most for his wonderful sense of humor, unbending work ethic, and his strong devotion to family. /ppHe was the son of the late Frank and Ethel Sullivan Getman and was also preceded in death by his brother Donald.
