Dale W. DeLong

Dale W. DeLong of Lowville, peacefully passed away Tuesday March 28th at his home under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Lewis County.

Dale was born June 22, 1951 in Carthage, son of the late Karl and Helen LaParr DeLong. He was a 1969 graduate of Carthage Central School.

He worked at James River Corp, formally Crown Zellerbach in Carthage.

Dale coached different levels of football for 38 years. His last being assistant varsity football coach at Beaver River Central School. Each and every one of Dale’s players through the years were very special to him. He was especially proud that his son, Brandon, joined him in coaching last year.

Dale married the former Paula Place on July 27, 2001.

Surviving are his wife, Paula of Lowville, two sons, Jason (Heather) DeLong, Bonney Lake, WA. and Brandon DeLong of Castorland, a step daughter Sara (Theresa) Astafan of Clayton, a step son John (Amber) Astafan of Carthage, two grandsons and one step granddaughter. He is also survived by his mother, Helen DeLong of Carthage and his sister, Debra DeLong of Syracuse. He was predeceased by his father Karl.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 31st from 5-7pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home in Carthage.
