Nicole S. B. Garnsey

Nicole S. B. Garnsey, 40, of 10742 County Rt. 9, Clayton, passed April 3, 2017 at the Claxton- Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Born on July 31, 1976 in Watertown, daughter of Donald J. and Brenda K. Jantzi Berry, she graduated from Lyme Central School in 1994 as Valedictorian. She then studied Chemistry at St. Lawrence University and received a Pre -Med Degree. While at St. Lawrence she studied abroad for a semester at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She then went to Syracuse University and graduated with a Masters Degree in Nutrition Science.

Following school she went to work for Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center as a Registered Dietician and Nutritionist for eight years. In 2010 she opened Feed the Soul Nutrition, Inc. in Watertown which she owned and operated up to the present time. During that time she also worked as a nutrition consultant for various hospitals in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence County. Nicole earned a certificate and became a diabetes educator in NNY in which she was only one of three people to achieve this honor.

She married Kenneth F. Garnsey Jr. on September 22, 2001 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clayton. Mr. Garnsey currently works at Thousand Islands Central School District.

Nicole also owned Nicky’s Nook a fashion boutique, enjoyed cross country skiing, snowshoeing, gardening, boating, watching Hunter’s hockey, baseball and soccer games, and most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Among her survivors are her beloved husband and son, Kenneth F. Garnsey Jr. and Hunter T. Garnsey, Clayton; her loving parents, Donald J. and Brenda K. Berry, Chaumont; a brother and sister in law, Brad M. and Nicole E. Berry, Chaumont; her paternal grandmother, Anna Mae Russell, Lowville; her mother and father in law, Lisa and Edwin Bazinet, Clayton; two sisters in law; Brooke Basinet and her fiance Scott Rose, Clinton, Sara and Michael Matthews, Clayton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Clayton, with the Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, Pastor officiating.

Following the Mass a Celebration of Life will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall 460 James St., Clayton where family will receive friends until 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the “Hunter Garnsey Trust Fund” in care of Kenneth F. Garnsey Jr. 10742 County Rt. 9 Clayton, NY 13624.
