Mrs. Pfaff was born February 16th, 1925 at her family home in bustling Detroit, MI, to Harold Eugene and Jessie Duer Webb. She was the youngest of five girls and one brother, Wendell, who died as a child.

Edith was a 1942 graduate of Detroit Public Schools and later attended business college. She and her sisters enjoyed summers on Hickory Island at Grosse Isle, MI., as well as, sailing, swimming, and the annual Hickory Day parade, games and dance. It was there that she met her husband Eugene Pfaff, a primary flight instructor, Lieutenant, USNR. He had either dated or attempted to date all of her sisters before discovering his true love. They were married March 10, 1945 in Detroit.

The couple moved to northern New York in 1950 and set up residence in Watertown. Here they became active members of the community and met many life-long friends. “Edie” enjoyed giving her time and energy as a volunteer for the Samaritan Keep Home, House of the Good Samaritan Auxiliary, and Red Cross Blood Drives. She and Gene were members of the Black River Valley Club, Ives Hill Country Club, Crescent Yacht Club, Innisbrook Golf and Country Club, Tarpon Springs, FL, and Countryside Golf Club in Naples, FL. She was also a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, Watertown, Sacket’s Harbor Presbyterian Church and North Naples Church, Naples, FL.

Over the years, Edie and Gene enjoyed travelling world-wide and organizing social events with friends. She played tennis and was an ardent Bridge player. Mrs. Pfaff also enjoyed spending time at a summer home on Lake Ontario at Campbell’s Point, NY.

Mrs. Pfaff is survived by, a sister, Carolyn Ann MacDonald, three sons, David (Michelle), William (Lori), and Murray (Monique), one daughter, Rebecca Brown (William), seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Eugene D. Pfaff, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pfaff’s final wishes were for everyone to celebrate a life well lived. As example, she was playing cards, and living on her own until just a few weeks ago.
