Canton: Anita R. Kimble, 75, of Canton, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday (April 8, 2017) surrounded by her loving family while under the care of Hospice.
Anita was born on June 11, 1941 in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Clarence “Joe” and Jennie (Phelix) Hitsman. Her family moved to Stony Point, NY where she attended school in Haverstraw, NY, graduating in 1958. She was employed at Spiewak Jackets, Lederle Laboratories and the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Anita married George E. Kimble, Jr. on June 11, 1961 at Thiells Methodist Church with the Rev. Alter J. Hofheinz officiating. The couple moved to Madrid, NY in 1972 where she worked for the St. Lawrence National Bank and then later at St. Lawrence County Real Property Tax Office, retiring in December of 2000.
Anita is survived by her husband George, two sons, George J. and his wife Debra of Potsdam, Robert S. and his wife Danyette of Ogdensburg, a daughter, Barbara and her husband Keith Matthie of Madrid; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents and her only sister, Jean Pfeister.
At Anita’s request, there will be no public calling hours. Burial will take place in Madrid Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Anita’s name may be made to St. Lawrence Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
