pJames Ernest Jackson, 73, of Monroe, GA and Sylvia Lake, NY passed away peacefully on March 1, 2016, at home in Monroe, GA./ppHe is survived by his loving wife, Katrena, 70; brother, Jon, 79; son, Jeffrey, 50; daughter, Tamara, 46; as well as his Maine Coon cats, King Arthur and Sir Lancelot. Brother, Jon R. Jackson of Sylvia Lake, NY, is retired and living there with wife Joan Stronach Jackson of Hailesboro, NY. Son, Jeffrey R. Jackson, of Schwenksville, PA, is a director of clinical trials with Bristol Myers Squibb. He and wife Lori Halavik Jackson have twin daughters, Taylor and Lindsey (19). Daughter, Tamara Jackson Pursley, of Loganville, GA, is affiliate relations director for the National Down Syndrome Congress. She and husband, Shawn C. Pursley, have three sons, Connor (12), Jackson (10) and Tyler (6). He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Tyler Jackson. /ppJim was born in Gouverneur, NY to the late Richard Jackson and Rosalyn Storrin Jackson of Gouverneur, in 1942. He graduated Gouverneur H.S. in 1960 and as an early Rouse scholarship recipient, graduated with a bachelor?s degree in civil engineering from Clarkson University in 1964. He was a brother of Zeta Nu fraternity. Later in 1964 he married Kathryn Tyler, also of Gouverneur. He worked for Cives Corporation for more than 40 years, moving his family across country many times, but always enjoyed coming home to Sylvia Lake where he was a lifelong summer resident. He was a talented builder, craftsman and woodworker. He believed in giving back to the community with his time, talent and treasure. He was a loyal member of Rotary International, a lead builder for Habitat for Humanity and supporter of charitable causes. He served on the Sylvia Lake Association and Gouverneur Foundation boards. His interests included a lifetime of 20+ adopted cats and dogs, cooking, landscaping and gardening, and crosswords. /ppJim will be cremated. Funeral services will be held at Tim Stewart Chapel located at 300 Simonton Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 on Saturday, March 5, with visitation at 1 PM and service at 2 PM. A memorial service and committal of his ashes will be held in Gouverneur, NY in the summer./ppThe family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gouverneur Foundation, Inc., 133 E.
