Funeral services for Leona Wilson Loeber, age 88, of 166 Lost Village Road, Ogdensburg, New York, will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, 10:30 AM, at the Presbyterian Stone Church, 533 Stone Church Road, Ogdensburg, New York, 13669 with Rev. David Hart officiating. Burial will follow at the Black Lake Cemetery located on County Route 6, north of Edwardsville followed by a Praise gathering at the Knights of Columbus, located in Ogdensburg on 721 Hasbrouck Street. Friends and family all welcome.
There will be no public calling hours. Family viewing 9:30 – 10 AM

Mrs. Leona Wilson Loeber passed on April 15, 2017, at 585 Finnegan Road, Potsdam (daughter’s residence) under Hospice Care.
She is survived by her ten children, Five sons; Bruce Wilson and Richard Wilson of Statesville, North Carolina, Stephen Wilson of Berea, Kentucky, Abraham Wilson of St.Cloud, Florida, Roger Wilson of Ogdensburg, New York; Five daughters; Beverly Davis of Potsdam, New York, Frances Blanton of Statesville, North Carolina, Diane Jones of Turlock, California, Barbara Harper of Ogdensburg, New York, and Janet Burnham of Hammond, New York; Two stepdaughters, Dolores Knight and Elizabeth Akins of Lisbon, New York; Seven stepsons, John Wilson, JR. and David Wilson of Hammond, New York, Charles Wilson of Northville, New York, Robert Wilson of Englewood, Florida and Edward Loeber and James Loeber of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Leona Wilson Loeber was predeceased by her first husband John J Wilson, May 29th, 1994 and her second husband Arnold F. Loeber September 13th, 2013; granddaughter Tonya Jean Denny, April 25th, 1977, step-grandson; Gary Wilson June 8th, 1993 and step-son James Wilson, October 5th, 1993, mother; Frances Mary Fleming LaRue, 02/02/1946, father; Leon Edward LaRue, Sr., 02/18/1988, brother; Leon Edward LaRue, Jr., 11/27/1996, sister; Mary Frances Thornton, 01/31/2014, surviving sisters; Elizabeth (Betty) Ross of Ogdensburg, N.Y. and Eleanor Sullivan of Watertown, N.Y., surviving sister-in-law Lola Wilson of Ogdensburg.
Leona Belle LaRue was born on June 10th, 1928. She attended Hammond Central School. She has lived on Black Lake the majority of her life; she loved her community and neighbors, attended and was a member of the Presbyterian Stone Church for over sixty years. One of her favorite sayings, “a woman’s work is never done”, with a large family and working on a dairy farm, there was always work to be done. Leona loved to embroider, do needlepoint, knit, sewing home-made quilts and reading. Also known for her great pies.
