A prayer service for Helena M. Potoski will be 2 pm Tuesday, April 18th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours are from 12 noon – 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Potoski, 93, Martin Rd., Watertown, passed away Saturday, April 15th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.
She is survived by two sons , Frank (Victoria) and Stanley (Pamela), of Watertown; 10 grandchildren, Paul, Joseph and Nicole Potoski, Ralph “Gregory” Presley, Thomas Barr, Ted (Paula) Barr, Ann (Tracy) Coburn, Tammy Genovese, Michele (Gino) Giardini, Stephen Potoski; 14 great grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters Viva Hall, Rutland and Rita (Jack) Berrus, Constableville; many nieces and nephews.
Helena was predeceased by a daughter Joan M. Potoski, a son Stephen W. Potoski, a granddaughter Tammy Lynn Potoski, a brother Winifred Jarvis, and a sister Martini Stoffel.
Helena was born in Lowville, June 4, 1923, a daughter to Edward and Lucille Mattison Jarvis. She worked at Chesebrough Ponds in Watertown for many years, retiring in the mid 1980’s.
She married Walter Potoski in 1943. Mr. and Mrs. Potoski lived in Glen Park, Pillar Point, and lastly at the corner of the Jericho and Martin Roads in the Town of Hounsfield. Mr. Potoski passed away in July of 1995.
Helena enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and playing cards.
