POTSDAM—Funeral Services for 86 year old Mary E. Waite, a resident of 48 Sisson Road, Potsdam, will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with her son, John, presiding over the services. Burial will follow the services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Waite passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 with her family at her side.
Mary is survived by a son, John and Mary Waite, Shelby, NC; a brother, Joseph McGregor, Lawrence as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Paul; a son Joseph Nelson Waite at infancy; a daughter Ruth Marie Waite, age 4; her brothers, Benjamin and Elmer McGregor and her sisters Betty Malone and Ella Mae Smith.
Born in Norfolk, NY on May 22, 1930 to the late Douglas J. and Marie Rose Thiebault McGregor, Mary married Paul H. Waite on May 26, 1951. Paul passed away on September 18, 2012. Mary worked as a homemaker, a housecleaner and also waitressed at various restaurants in Potsdam. She was a widowed member of the Potsdam Elks Club and enjoyed crafts, sewing, camping and visiting with her family and friends. Mary always tried to stay busy and was always willing to help others.
