pAmerican Soldier/ American Hero The funeral for Amos C. “Andy” Cambron, 93, formerly of 11793 Rays Bay Rd. and Old Rices Rd., Watertown, will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of TLC Funeral Home, Inc. Calling hours will be prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Mr. Cambron will be buried with full military honors from the US Army and the Town of Watertown Fire Department. A get together will follow the funeral at the Henderson United Methodist Church. /ppMr. Cambron was born July 18, 1922 in Lindsay, Oklahoma the son of Harvey and Bertha Baker Cambron. He graduated from Litchfield Park (Arizona) High School./ppMr. Cambron enlisted in the US Army December 9, 1942 at Fort McArthur, CA. He was a tank driver in the Army and saw battle in five major campaigns in Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, and Lexemburg. His unit fought in the European Operations in France, Belquin, Holland, and Germany. Mr. Cambron was a well decorated Veteran whose medals included the American Defense Medal, Service Medal, EMA, European Theater of Operations and good conduct medal. Mr. Cameron also received the bronze star for this meritorious service to his country. He was honorably discharged on September 24, 1945 at Fort Bliss, Texas. While in service, Mr. Cambron met the love of his life Amy E. Caulkins who he married at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona on August 22, 1945. Mrs. Cambron was laid to rest on January 7, 2014. Mr. Cameron was interviewed by the media on many occasions for the many veteran’s issues that he was most passionate about./ppMr. Cambron worked as an auto mechanic for Holton Tech, Plumpton Chevrolet and later retired from Good Year Tire. After his retirement, he worked for Ives Construction on various projects including the demolition of many old buildings on Arsenal Street to which the now famous last words to the media were always “Me and My Boys Built It.”/ppMr. Cambron was a volunteer fireman for the Town of Watertown Fire Department for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sackets Harbor American Legion, the Adams VFW, and the Henderson United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, but most of all enjoyed socializing with his family and friends and was known to turn his beautiful bride around the dance floor a time or two. Along with his own children, Mr. Cambron and his wife looked after all of the neighbors kids on Rices Road to keep them out of mischief. /ppIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Henderson Rescue Squad or the Henderson United Methodist Church./ppHe is survived by his children: David and Sherrie Cambron, of Pennfield, NY, Ron Cambron of Mesa, Arizona, and Carol Reed and Thomas LaDuke of Adams Center. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Wanda Cambron of Tonopah, Arizona and his two grandchildren: Eric and Carolyn Reed of Watertown Massachusetts and Lesie Reed of Clinton, Connecticut. Predeceased besides his wife are two brothers, Sam and T.L. Cambron and a sister, Willie Mae Cox. Arrangements are with TLC Funeral Home, Inc./p
