David A. Mitchell

NORTH BANGOR – Mr. David A. Mitchell, 61, of McGowan Road, unexpectedly passed away Monday evening, April 24, 2017 at his home.

David was born October 11, 1955 in Potsdam, the son of the late James K. and Sylvia Page Mitchell. He was a 1973 graduate of Potsdam High School and later from the National Tool, Die, and Precision Machining Institute. On October 11, 1980, he married Patricia E. Fonda in West Stockholm.

David first worked for Mitel before going to General Motors, where he was a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker for several years until his retirement. David was an avid outdoor enthusiast, who loved hunting and target shooting. He loved socializing with his many friends and was original organizer of the All Guys Weekends at Weller Mountain, a tradition that has continued for 27 years. He was also a member of the Red Tavern Club in Santa Clara, the 168 Club in Hopkinton, and the St. Regis Falls Sportsman Club. David loved sports and he was a hardcore Jets and Yankees fan.

David is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his son, Michael David Mitchell of North Bangor; his brothers, Douglas A. (Joan) Mitchell of Bergen, NY; Dana A. Mitchell (Ronda VanOrman) of Lisbon; and Darren A. (Diane) Mitchell of Waterloo, NY; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his mother, Sylvia on March 21, 2001 and his father, James on April 8, 2017.

Friends and family may call Saturday 1:00-4:00 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM with Lay Pastor Martha Helmer, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
