Reginald L. Besio

A Memorial Service for Reginald L. Besio, age 89 of Ogdensburg will be held on Monday May 15, 2017 at 4:00pm at Foxwood Memorial Park. Mr. Besio passed away on May 9, 2017 at Riverledge Healthcare Facility. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Surviving are two sons Franklin (Julie) Besio of Heuvelton, William (Toni) Besio of Colton; a daughter Lois (Andy) Mousaw of Rochester; a sister Beverly Navoian of Syracuse; grandchildren Stacy Hudman-Besio, Frankie Jone’t Besio, Haydn Besio, Harlee Besio, Johnny Burnham, Lindsay Caudle; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

He was predeceased by a son John Besio in 1976; five sisters Marion Herron, Genevieve Wells, Effie Stiles, Violet Davis and Alberta Lucas; four brothers Harley, Clarence, Edward & Robert Besio and his favorite pet dog “Whiskey”.

Reggie was born on February 5, 1928 in Fort Covington NY, a son of the late Duncan & Ethelyn (Garrow) Besio. He graduated from Rensselaer Falls High School, and entered the US Navy on July 8, 1946 where he was stationed on the USS YMS 224 Mine Sweeper in the Philippine’s. He received his honorable discharge on July 7, 1954. A prior marriage to Wilma (Glidden) ended.

During his career he worked for the local Carpenters Union # 278 around the county as a heavy equipment operator and building tradesman until his retirement in 1985. He was a former member of Am Vets, VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching wild life being outdoors, his pet dog “Whiskey” and spending time with his family.
