Sally E. Treat, 83, Liverpool, formerly of Elmira, and a former summer resident of Sand Bay, passed away Thursday evening, May 4, 2017 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.
Sally was born in Clayton on January 3, 1934, daughter of Harry and Rita Branche Butcher. She received her Masters Degree from St. Lawrence University, Canton and she was a member of its Alumni Association and Delta Delta Delta sorority. She retired from Steele Memorial Library, Elmira after a long career as a librarian.
In Elmira, she was a charter member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered for both the community food bank and AARP of Chemung County. During her summers in Sand Bay, Sally enjoyed volunteering at Tibbett’s Point Lighthouse. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Charles Treat, who predeceased her.
She is survived by her three children, David A. Peck and wife, Bell, Newport News, VA; Thomas M. Peck and wife, Diane, Petersburg, NJ and Martha G. Peck, N. Syracuse; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc.; 320 John St., Clayton on Friday, May 19 from 4 - 7pm. There will be no funeral services. Light refreshments to follow at the Clayton American Legion.
